a) New Concrete Surface :-

New concrete surface should be at least 28 days old and/or have moisture content of less than 5% before proceeding with primer application. Laitance and deposits on new concrete are best removed by light grit blasting, mechanical scarification or grinding. Acid etching may be considered for smaller areas, after etching the floor, it should be thoroughly washed with clean water, and then allowed to dry.

b) Old Concrete Floors :-

Mechanical cleaning methods are strongly recommended on old concrete surfaces, particularly their heavy contamination by oil and grease has occurred or old coatings is present. To ensure good adhesion, all contaminants are removed and the surface thoroughly cleaned of all dust and loose debris. A thorough detergent wash is also recommended followed by thorough cleaning with water and moping it off to a dry state.

120 EPOXY ZP STEEL GUARD HBHS PRIMER

Description

Two components, air drying, high build Epoxy primer. The product has the advantage of epoxy resin composition with specialty pigments, which facilitates one-coat, high build application for high performance. The product can be applied on minimum prepared surface and is designed to be completely wet and provide maximum intimacy with the substrate. Excellent adhesion is obtained on a variety of intact surfaces including over old coating and tightly adherent rust. With the high solids and less solvent content of the coating the risk of lifting, blistering, pin holing is reduced, and thus the risk of adhesion failure is minimized.

Recommended Use :-

It is recommended for steel structures in industrial plants, bridges, tank exteriors, oil tanks, pipes, marine atmosphere, cooling towers, etc. It has good resistance to spillage and fumes of acids, alkalis, fresh and salt water. Recommended as a primer on suitably cleaned mild steel surface in various Fertilizer units, Refineries, Chemical and other plants, Transportation industries, steel plants, cement plants, power plants, pulp and paper industries, pharmaceutical industries, etc. for application on tank exteriors, structural steel, pipelines, machineries, vessels, etc.

Application Method

Stir the Base part thoroughly. Mix the base and hardener in the recommended ratio by volume. Stir the mix thoroughly to attain homogeneity. Allow the mixture to stand still (maturation) for about 10 minutes to initiate the reaction. Add Epoxy Thinner into the mix, depending on application method, and stir thoroughly for few minutes. Strain the paint through Nylon filter cloth and apply uniformly over the surface. All equipments used for above should be properly cleaned.

Application: By Brush / By Conventional Spray/ By Airless Spray For Brush application, about 5-10% thinner is required to be added. Use quality brushes for paint application; Brushes made up of hog bristles are highly recommended. Size of the brush should be in proportion to the work in hand. Large size brushes (100-125 mm) for large areas and small brushes (25-50 mm) for narrow areas should be used

For Conventional Spray application :-

Thinner : Epoxy Thinner 190
Addition : 5-10%
Nozzle Orifice : 2 - 3 mm
Nozzle Pressure : 40-70 p.s.i.

For Airless Spray application :-

Thinner : Epoxy Thinner 190
Addition : Max 5% if required
Nozzle Orifice : 0.48-0.53 mm
Nozzle Pressure : 2700-3200 psi

Notes

1. Do not apply paint when temperature falls below 10°C or rises above 50°C and when Relative Humidity is above 85%. Do not apply during rain, fog or mist. Surface temperature must always be minimum of 3°C above Dew point.
2. Brushes and spray equipment should be cleaned with SAFFRO's recommended thinner, otherwise equipment is liable to be damaged.
3. Products with MIO pigmentation and also with various amine Hardeners are available on requests
4. DFT variation can be obtained by change in application method / thinning ratio.
5. Product for flow coat applications is also available on request.
6. Shelf life indicated is minimum for this Product in sealed condition and it is subject to re-inspection thereafter. Individual component is required to be stored in cool, dry and covered condition, away from heat and ignition.

Health & Safety

This is a solvent based paint and care should be taken to avoid inhalation of spray mist or vapour as well as contact between the wet paint and exposed skin or eyes.

121 EPOXY HB HS MUSTIC

Description

Two component, air drying, high solids, Epoxy coating. The product has the advantage of epoxy resin composition with speciality pigment, which facilitates one-coat, high build application for high performance. The product can be applied on minimum prepared surface and is designed to completely wet the substrate. Excellent adhesion is obtained on a variety of intact surfaces including over old coating and tightly adherent rust. The composition has been balanced to a convenient mixing ratio by volume with excellent application characteristics. The low solvent content reduces the problem of lifting of the paint film and adhesion failure by blistering and pin holing. This assures a stable long term performance.

Recommended Use :-

It is mainly recommended in those areas where blasting is impractical or impossible. Uses include steel structures in Industrial plants, bridges, tank exteriors, oil tanks, pipes, marine atmosphere, cooling towers, etc.
